About the TAO

The Taoist Arts Organisation (TAO) was established in 1995 by Tony Swanson, its Technical Director. Under his leadership and inspiration it is dedicated to preserving the quality, purity and completeness of the Li style Arts and providing teaching of the highest quality to students.

In the 15 years since its inception, students from the TAO have clearly demonstrated the power and beauty of the Li style, winning medals at National, European and World-class level in both sparring and forms categories.

Although there are notable successes celebrated by our teams, the excellence of the teaching is enjoyed by all TAO members who benefit from this absorbing and beautiful art.

The TAO is a not for profit organisation, run by committee.

As part of its commitment to excellent training, the TAO has gained national recognition as an ITEC school and NVQ Assessment Centre. It maintains the highest professional standards for its Instructors. The TAO is an executive member of the British Council of Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA), the governing body for Chinese Martial Arts. The TAO Technical Director is the current BCCMA Chairman.
